What types of fence does Tornado Fence install?

Tornado Fence installs wood privacy fencing in picture frame, board on board, dog ear, and good-neighbor alternating layouts; galvanized and black vinyl-coated chain link; ornamental iron in standard and Apache styles; vinyl privacy, picket, and ranch rail; code-compliant pool safety enclosures; horse corral, split rail, and lodge pole ranch fencing; and gates from single walk gates to double drive and rolling gates. The company also performs repairs on all of these fence types.

What should I do after a new wood fence is installed?

Seal or stain it. Bare wood in inland North County begins greying and surface-checking within the first summer of UV exposure. Staining early, ideally before or shortly after installation, protects every face of the board and materially extends the fence's service life.

How long has Tornado Fence been in business?

Over 25 years serving North County San Diego.

Does Tornado Fence offer discounts?

Yes, 5% discount for returning customers.

What areas does Tornado Fence serve?

San Marcos, Vista, Carlsbad, Poway, Encinitas, Oceanside, Valley Center, Fallbrook.

Does Tornado Fence install pool fences?

Yes, code-compliant pool safety fencing.

Is black vinyl chain link worth it over galvanized?

Black vinyl-coated chain link costs more up front but visually recedes into landscaping instead of reflecting light, and the coating adds a corrosion barrier that matters within a few miles of the coast. Galvanized remains the value choice for ranch perimeters, work yards, and sport courts.

How long does a wood fence last in North County San Diego?

A cedar or redwood fence set on pressure-treated or metal posts typically lasts 15 to 20 years in inland North County. Sun exposure is the main enemy, so fences that are stained within the first year hold their color and resist cracking far longer than fences left bare.

Can an iron fence be installed on top of a retaining wall?

Yes. Iron panels are commonly core-drilled or base-plated into the top of a block or poured wall, which is the standard approach for hillside lots in Escondido, Poway, and Rancho Bernardo where the wall already holds the grade and the fence only needs to provide safety and definition.

Does vinyl fencing turn yellow in San Diego sun?

Quality vinyl fencing is manufactured with UV inhibitors and titanium dioxide, so it holds its color for decades rather than yellowing. The cheap panels sold at big-box stores use thinner walls and less UV package, which is where the yellowing and cracking reputation comes from.

What does California require for a pool safety fence?

California's pool safety law requires an enclosure barrier at least 60 inches tall on the outside with no gaps a small child can pass through, and gates that are self-closing and self-latching with the release mechanism placed high enough to be out of a young child's reach. Requirements are enforced locally, so the city or county building department has final say on your specific installation.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace a fence?

Repair is the better value when the posts are still sound and the damage is limited to boards, rails, or a gate. Once more than roughly a third of the posts are rotted or leaning, replacement usually costs less per remaining year of life because each repair visit is spent on labor that a full rebuild would cover once.

What kind of fence is best for horses?

Horse owners in North County generally choose 3 or 4-rail wood or lodge pole fencing at roughly 54 to 60 inches, because rails are highly visible to a horse and flex on impact instead of trapping a hoof. Adding a wire or chain link backing keeps foals and smaller livestock contained without losing that visibility.

Why do wood gates sag and how is it prevented?

A wood gate sags when the frame racks under its own weight, which is why the fix is structural rather than cosmetic. Building the gate on a welded steel frame, or using a properly tensioned diagonal brace running from the bottom hinge corner upward, keeps the gate square for the life of the fence.
